Truck certificate is mandatory AMU course giving you forklift certificate B — proof you need to operate forklift in warehouse construction site or production. This study guide collects practical side of education path itself: duration entry requirements which certificate you get economy of AMU course how to register. Actual subject matter of truck driving itself you find in trade articles and tools
§What is the truck certificate a course for?
Truck certificate falls under AMU (labor market educations) and concludes mandatory course within transport and logistics. Official course is called 'Forklift certificate course B' and has AMU-/trade code 47592. When you pass your forklift certificate B is issued documenting you may operate forklift per Work Authority requirements. At AMU SYD in Kolding course is offered both as regular program and weekend classes plus in several languages (incl. English German and Polish)
§Duration
The course lasts 7 days. It is typically offered as a complete programme on weekdays, but several schools — including AMU SYD — also have weekend classes, so the 7 days can be distributed differently. The overall education is the same regardless of class format.
§Entry requirements
- 01You must be at least 18 years old.
- 02You must be able to present either a valid driving license (for regular cars) or a satisfactory medical certificate about health information.
- 03No prior truck driver experience is required — the course leads to the certificate exam.
§The difference between A and B certificate
There are two forklift certificates. Certificate A covers pallet jacks operated on foot or from a platform and have support legs under the load. Certificate B (the one you get from this course) covers self-propelled forklifts with forks along a vertical mast and without support legs under the load. B-certificate is the broadest — it also gives the right to operate pallet jacks which otherwise fall under A.
| Certificate | Machine type | Also grants the right to |
|---|---|---|
| A | Fork stackers (walking/standing plate, support legs under load) | — |
| B | Autonomous forklift (vertical mast without support legs under the load) | Operating forklifts (area A) |
§What certificate do you get?
The course concludes with a certificate exam, conducted according to the Danish Labour Authority's rules for forklift certification. If you pass, you get your AMU course certificate and forklift certificate B. The certificate is issued digitally and sent to your e-Box after the course.
§AMU economics: participant fees and continuing education funding
As an AMU course, the truck certificate has a participant fee that is significantly lower than the full course price. For participants in the AMU target group, the participant fee is around 1,500 kr. for the entire course (prices are adjusted year by year and may vary slightly between schools — check the current price at the specific school). The unemployed with the right to 6 weeks of job-oriented education may be exempt from participant fees when there is an agreement between the job centre/other actor and the training institution.
While you are on the course, you or your employer can apply for VEU allowance as compensation for lost income. The rate for 2026 is DKK 5,086.39 per week (DKK 137.47 per hour). The main conditions are that you lose wages during the course, are employed as an employee (or are self-employed with a Danish CVR number), and that your education does not exceed vocational education level. If you receive wages during the course, the employer applies for the allowance; if you do not receive wages, you apply yourself.
