Personal protective equipment
Auto-darkening welding helmet~ ca. 300-950 kr afhængigt af modelIndicative · pricerunner.dk / blite.dk · 2026-06
Leather welding glovesProtects hands and wrists against heat, sparks and glowing metal during welding and grinding. Required personal equipment on the course.
Welding apron / leather welding jacketWorn over cotton clothing to protect against weld spatter and radiant heat. Part of the recommended minimum safety equipment for AMU welding.
Safety shoeProtects the feet in the workshop against glowing metal, sparks and workpieces. Must be brought by participants on AMU SYD's welding courses.
Respiratory protection against welding fumesReduces inhalation of harmful welding fumes, especially when welding stainless steel and galvanised material. Recommended as part of the safety equipment.
Svejsemaskiner og gas
MAG welder (CO2)The most widely used method on the course for welding carbon and stainless steel in all positions. Used to train towards the ISO 9606 certificate.
MIG welderUsed on the course for welding aluminium and other light metals with continuous wire.
TIG welding machineUsed for finer, controlled welding of stainless steel, thin sheet and aluminium. Practised to achieve a TIG certificate on the course.
Elektrode-/MMA-svejsemaskineUsed for robust welding of steel, also outdoors and on thicker material. Part of the course's arc/stick welding.
Shielding gas (argon / CO2 / mixed gas)MAG uses active gas (CO2/mixed gas) for steel; MIG/TIG uses inert argon for aluminium and stainless steel. Required for all gas-shielded welding processes on the course.
Rodgas-/formeringsgasudstyrUsed for pipe welding in stainless steel, where the root side must be purged/protected from oxygen to achieve a clean, non-oxidised root pass — see the pipe welding calculator for weld length.
Tilsatsmaterialer
MIG/MAG welding wire (ER70S-6)Consumed as filler material in MAG welding of steel. Standard wire for a large share of the course's practical exercises.
TIG welding rod (filler rod)Used as filler material in TIG welding, with the material chosen to match the base metal (steel, stainless or aluminium).
Coated welding electrodesConsumed in stick/arc welding of steel. Used to practise stick welding in various positions on the course.
Tungsten electrodes (TIG)Fitted in the TIG torch and carries the arc; chosen according to material and current type (AC for aluminium, DC for steel/stainless).
Værkstedsværktøj
Angle grinder with cutting and grinding discsUsed to cut workpieces, file weld joints, remove slag and grind welds clean before and after welding.
Electrode holders and earth clampHolds workpieces accurately and steadily during fitting and welding, and the earth clamp ensures correct current return without poor contact.
Chipping hammer and wire brushUsed between each weld layer in electrode/MMA welding to ensure a clean surface without slag inclusions in the next layer, and for final cleaning of the finished weld.
Measuring tool
Temperaturindikator-kridt/-stifterUsed to check preheat and interpass temperature before and during welding of thicker or alloyed workpieces where cold cracking is a risk — see the preheat temperature calculator.
Weld gauge (a-dimension/fillet weld gauge)Used for quick quality control of your own and others' weld seams directly in the workshop — compare with the calculated throat thickness from the a-dimension calculator.
