Contact points, isolation rooms and correct sequence

§Before the round

  • 01Perform hand hygiene and put on clean gloves if relevant.
  • 02Check the department's instructions for isolation or special precautions
  • 03Prepare trolley with clean, color-coded tools for the department

§Contact points that are prioritized

  • 01Door handles and railings.
  • 02Bed rails call buttons and control panels
  • 03Hand sanitizer dispensers (filled) and taps
  • 04Common equipment and keyboards

§For isolation rooms

  • 01Follow the department's signs and instructions before entering
  • 02Use dedicated tools for this room — never mix with other rooms
  • 03Remove protective equipment in the correct order at exit and perform hand hygiene

§After the round

  • 01Change or wash tools that have been in contact with high-risk areas
  • 02Perform hand hygiene.
  • 03Note observations or deficiencies to the department's staff
