Checklist: Ergonomic work posture in cleaning

Spare the back, shoulders and wrists throughout the shift

§Equipment setting

  • 01Set the mop and broom handle so you stand upright without bending your back
  • 02Keep tools close to your body rather than far out
  • 03Use telescopic shaft for high-seated surfaces instead of stretching yourself

§Working position

  • 01Use the body's large muscle groups and legs — avoid twisting at the back
  • 02Switch working side and hand at regular intervals
  • 03Bend at the knees rather than at the back when going down
  • 04Alternate between tasks so the same joints are not strained the whole time

§PLACEHOLDER_29

  • 01Use aids and machines where available
  • 02Push forward rather than pull, and hold the load close to your body
  • 03Empty heavy buckets partially rather than lifting them full
  • 04Ask for help with heavy lifting rather than handling it all yourself
