← Templates·Warehouse & logistics·If you plan to start a vocational training as a truck driver, the basic qualification training is typically combined with the actual driving licence training — that is the fastest way to start commercial driving from 18 years old.
Plan template: ABC analysis and relocation of goods
From picking data to new item placement in five controlled steps — with decision rules and follow-up
Purpose: to give the most picked goods the warehouse's best places so walking time and travel time fall. The plan is typically carried out over 2-4 weeks and repeated at fixed intervals (e.g. twice yearly or before peak season). Fill in responsible person and deadline for each step before work begins.
§Step 1: Data extraction
- 01☐ Extract picking data per item number for a representative period (typically 6-12 months)
- 02☐ Choose unit of measurement: number of picking movements/order lines (not turnover in kr. — it's walk time we're chasing)
- 03☐ Clean data: expired item numbers, single campaigns and seasonal skewed periods marked
- 04☐ Responsible person: ____________ Deadline: ______
§Step 2: Classification
- 01☐ Sort item numbers by picking movements, descending
- 02☐ Klassificér efter akkumuleret andel — vejledende: A = de varer der samlet udgør ca. 80 % af plukkene, B = de næste ca. 15 %, C = resten
- 03☐ Mark exceptions: very heavy/large items, dated products, hazardous goods and items always picked together
- 04☐ Responsible person: ____________ Deadline: ______
§Step 3: Placement rules
| Class | Zone | Height | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Closest to packaging/dispatch | Grip height (knee-shoulder) | Plenty of picking space — minimize restocking |
| B | Middle zone | Grip height or lowest buffer level | Fixed picking area, buffer in height. |
| C | Outer zones | Higher levels/remote storage | Floating location is accepted |
| Exceptions. | According to the good's requirements | Heavy goods always low | Color blending and match — that's how you hit the color. |
§Step 4: Relocation list and execution
- 01☐ Prepare move list: item number, from location, to location, priority
- 02☐ Schedule moves during quiet periods — never in the middle of the picking window
- 03☐ Scan-confirm EVERY move in the system before item is physically moved further
- 04☐ Update location labels and picking location min./max. levels
- 05☐ Inform all pickers of new locations before first shift after move
- 06☐ Responsible person: ____________ Execution period: ______ to ______
§Step 5: Follow-up (4-6 weeks after)
