Checklist: evaluation of wind and weather before lifting in open
The points that determine whether the lift is safe
§Wind
- 01The current and expected wind is known for the lifting period
- 02The manufacturer's wind limit for the crane is read and observed
- 03Account has been taken of the fact that wind is often stronger high up than at ground level
§The load
- 01The load's windage is assessed — large flat loads catch a lot of wind
- 02Tyreline is clear if the burden can swing or turn
- 03It has been assessed whether a wind-catching load requires a lower wind limit than the crane's
§Sieve and base
- 01Sight conditions allow the driver and signal giver to see the load and area
- 02The substrate is not icy and mechanics and equipment are not frozen.
- 03In doubt about wind or visibility the lift is postponed until conditions are better
