Checklist: joint lift with two cranes

The points that must be clarified before two cranes lift the same load

§Planning and coordination rather than just machine operation

  • 01A qualified person is designated to plan and oversee the team lift
  • 02All crane operators and riggers involved are instructed in this specific lift
  • 03There is a fixed plan for the load's path and for what is done if anything deviates along the way

§Weight distribution and load

  • 01The weight distribution between the cranes is calculated, not estimated
  • 02None of the cranes are loaded over 75% of its maximum permissible load at the current outreach
  • 03Account has been taken of what happens to the distribution if the load tips or rotates slightly

§Cranes and equipment

  • 01The cranes are of the same type and preferably have the same speed regulation system
  • 02If necessary special lifting gear (yoke) has been used so the weight is distributed correctly
  • 03All crane operators have certificates for the crane type they operate

§During the lift.

  • 01All crane operators are on the same radio channel as the technical supervisor
  • 02The movements are coordinated so that no crane lifts or lowers without the others
