Standard sign: hand signals during crane lifting
Overview of the signs that the designer, engineer and drawings creator use
§Basic principles
- 01Only the designated signaller gives directions at a time
- 02The stop signal can be given by anyone, and the driver stops immediately
- 03Signs are given calmly and clearly so they can be seen from a distance
- 04The signalman stands in a place where both the load and the landing point can be seen
§The common signs
| Movement | What it means |
|---|---|
| Hoist up | The load is lifted vertically upwards |
| Hoist down | The load is lowered vertically downwards |
| Drive / Move | The load is moved horizontally in the direction shown |
| Swing | The crane's arm or jib rotates in the direction shown |
| Slow | Same movement but performed at reduced speed |
| Stop | The movement stops immediately |
