Plan: assembly and dismantling of tower crane
Steps that must be performed in order when tower crane is erected or taken down
§Before assembly
- 01Foundation or anchoring is checked and approved for the planned crane
- 02Assembly plan from the manufacturer has been reviewed and the auxiliary crane for the task is correctly sized
- 03Work is led by an expert and all involved are instructed in the order
§During assembly.
- 01Tower sections are erected and bolted in the sequence prescribed by the manufacturer
- 02Counterweight is installed in the correct amount and sequence so the crane is never unbalanced
- 03Wind conditions are continuously monitored — assembly is postponed in too strong wind
§After assembly, before commissioning
- 01Overload protection, emergency stop and brakes are tested and functioning
- 02The pivoting brake's engagement function (flag weathervane) is checked
- 03The crane is approved by an expert, and the approval is documented before it is put into use
§Disassembly
- 01Disassembly plan is followed in reverse order of assembly unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise
- 02Counterweight and sections are removed in a controlled manner so the crane does not become unstable during disassembly
- 03The area under and around the crane is kept cordoned off throughout the dismantling
