Today's tasks added together — L_EX,8h
Enter today's tasks with their noise level and duration. The calculator adds them together as ENERGY and normalises to an 8-hour day. It is not the same as an average: ten minutes with an angle grinder takes up more than seven hours of quiet work.

Where is it
80 dB(A) — Lower action value · exceeded
85 dB(A) — Limit value · exceeded
Ingen må udsættes for mere end det her. Høreværnet skal på fra første minut, og arbejdet skal ændres så støjen kommer ned.
Bek. nr. 63 af 06/02/2006, § 11, stk. 1 og § 12, stk. 2
That's how fast it goes
At the most demanding of your tasks alone you're at 85 dB(A) after 15 minutes. The rest of the day comes on top.
Hearing protection is not included
The figure here is the noise as it hits the ear WITHOUT hearing protection. How much a hearing protector reduces depends on the product, the fit and whether it is worn all the time — a calculation cannot guess that. And hearing protection is a last resort: first the noise must be reduced at the source.
L_EX,8h = 10 · log₁₀( (1/T₀) · Σ tᵢ · 10^(Lᵢ/10) )
T₀ = 8 hours · tᵢ = duration · Lᵢ = dB(A)
The result is indicative and an aid tool for estimates and learning. It does not replace design, applicable standards and legislation or a qualified professional's specific assessment. Always check against the source (Noise Regulation) and actual conditions on the task. See sources & reservations.
