Where is it used?
When a pipe has to turn
A bend in a pipe IS a piece of a circle. If the pipe has to turn 90 degrees, that is a quarter — exactly like two slices of a pizza cut into eight.
When a sheet has to become a funnel
A smith cuts a piece out of a round sheet and bends the rest together. The bigger the piece that goes away, the pointier the funnel gets.
