Checklist: BIM model before IFC submission
Model control, collision control and export in open format
Run through this checklist at each agreed model exchange and always before handover. The requirements for naming, coordinates and information levels are in the project's IT agreement — keep the list alongside the agreement and adjust the points to the project.
§1. Model hygiene
- 01The model is saved in the correct filename according to the project's naming rules.
- 02Zero point, coordinate system and north direction follow the IKT agreement.
- 03Temporary geometry, sketches and import remnants are removed.
- 04No duplicates — run the program's check for overlapping objects.
- 05Stories, zones, and building sections are correctly defined and named.
§2. Objects and property data
- 01Building parts are modelled as the correct object type (wall as wall deck as deck).
- 02Classification is completed according to the project's agreed system.
- 03Materials and agreed properties are filled in on all objects in the delivery.
- 04The information level corresponds to what the ICT agreement requires for this phase — neither more nor less.
- 05Quantities can be extracted and spot-checked against the drawings.
§3. Coordination and collision control
- 01Own trade model is tested against the other trade models in the latest shared version.
- 02Found collisions are registered with responsible and status.
- 03Critical collisions are resolved or escalated before replacement — not left as surprises.
- 04Changes since last exchange are briefly described in delivery note or exchange memo.
§4. IFC export and inspection
- 01The export setup (IFC version and agreed property sets) follows the ICT agreement.
- 02The exported IFC file is opened in an independent IFC viewer — not just in its own programme.
- 03Sample: geometry, floors, classification, and properties are correctly transferred.
- 04File size and object count are compared with the last delivery — large deviations are investigated.
- 05The delivery has been uploaded to the project web and acknowledged according to the agreement.
