Planning sheet: mould change and production conversion

How to plan a change of mould or tool so downtime is minimized

An unplanned product change often takes longer than necessary because material, tools, or settings are first found while the machine is already idle. Use the checklist to prepare the change before the old production stops.

§Before the shift

  • 01Is the new form or new tool prepared cleaned and checked for damage?
  • 02Has the material for the new production been retrieved and possibly left to dry in good time?
  • 03Have the previous drive settings for the new order been found or recalculated?
  • 04Is enough time set aside for both changeover and run-in in the production schedule?

§During the shift.

  • 01Follow the company's established sequence for disassembly and startup, so no safety steps are skipped.
  • 02Clean the machine for the previous material if the new material must not be mixed with the old.
  • 03Install and clamp the new mould correctly and check that guards and safety gates function.
  • 04Run the break-in following the same system as a normal startup — one parameter at a time.
