Work process: running in an injection molding machine

Step by step from first piece to stable approved production

Follow these steps when the machine is set up and needs to be run in. Take your time — a good break-in gives stable production afterwards.

§1. Cautious start-up

Start cardiopulmonary resuscitation with chest compressions; alternate between compressions and insufflations as you have learned.

§2. Assess the first items

  • 01Is the mould fully filled or is material missing?
  • 02Are there errors such as air bubbles, burn marks, or unevenness?
  • 03Does the item hold the right dimensions?

§3. Adjust one thing at a time

Correct the settings for the error you see — but only change one parameter at a time so you can see the effect. If you change everything at once, you won't know what helped.

§4. Confirm stability

When multiple items in a row are good and identical, the machine is stable. Check a few more pieces to be sure before you approve production.

§5. Note the settings

Write down the good settings. Next time the same subject needs to be run, it saves you a long setup time to start from a known starting point.
