Storyboard template for video and motion
Plan the move before you start. It makes it calm and safe for both of you.
Fill in the template for each scene in sequence before recording or animation begins. The more precisely you plan here the fewer decisions need to be made—and regretted—during production.
§Before you draw the storyboard
- 01What is the one message the viewer should take away?
- 02How long should the total video be?
- 03Where should the video be shown (feed, story, website, large screen)?
- 04Who is the recipient, and what should they do after watching the video?
§Per scene
- 01Number and duration (e.g. scene 3, approx. 4 seconds)
- 02Sketch of the image — what is seen in the image, and what is the camera angle
- 03Action — what happens in the scene
- 04Text/speech — what is said or shown as text in the scene
- 05Sound/music — what sound or music accompanies the scene
- 06Transition to next scene — cut, slide, or similar
§Check before recording or production
- 01Are all scenes reviewed and approved internally?
- 02Have locations, participants and equipment been booked for the right times?
- 03Are music rights and consent from any people who can be recognized sorted out?
- 04Is time set aside for a buffer if a scene needs to be re-filmed?
