Digital media education

As a digital media professional you create the content we meet on screens all day. You design and build websites apps animations banners and social media graphics and you get a craft where the visual and technical go hand in hand. You end up as someone who can both draw an idea and get it to work in a browser.

§What do you do in everyday life?

A typical day is about converting a customer's wish into something that looks good and works. You sketch layouts choose colors and typefaces cut images and video and code it together so it plays on both phone and computer. You often work in a team where you bounce ideas off and deliver to a deadline.

§How do you get started?

You start with a basic course at a vocational school, where you learn the basics of design and digital tools. Then you find an apprenticeship in a bureau or company with a media department, and here you get apprentice wages. The rest of the education alternates between school stays and practice so you constantly use what you learn on real tasks.

§The way forward

With the journeyman's certificate you can work in agencies with web companies or in marketing departments and many specialise in for example UX design motion graphics or frontend development. If you want to go further you can build on with courses or a further education within multimedia and digital design.
