A personnel lift does not require a certificate. In return, you must have thorough instruction, and the lift must have a main inspection at least every 12 months. Here are the rules for lifting persons, why a forklift is not a lift, and which AMU courses exist.
Introduction
A personnel lift — in everyday speech just a lift — does not require a certificate. The Danish Working Environment Authority writes: »Since it is not a requirement that the employee has a certificate for the machine, it is extra important to receive instruction in using the machine in a safe and proper way.«
Lifting persons
Persons may only be lifted with technical equipment designed for it (BEK no. 428 of 05/04/2022 § 59, subsection 1). »Lifting a load« also includes lifting persons (§ 4, subsection 3). That is why the requirement for a main inspection by a competent person at least every 12 months also applies to lifts (§ 58). Equipment for lifting persons must also have a static load test by a competent person before it is used for the first time and after every main inspection, and there must be a logbook with the equipment (§§ 61 and 64).
A forklift is not a lift
A forklift truck is built for goods. Lifting persons with a forklift may only be done exceptionally and with a work platform that meets all the requirements of annex 2 to BEK 428/2022 (§ 59, subsection 3). Read more in the article on lifting persons with a forklift.
