The forklift certificate test consists of a theory test and a practical test, both of which must be passed within 6 months. Here are the figures from TUR's test guidelines: number of questions, time and errors for A and B, how the practical test works, what type 1 and type 2 errors are, and when you can take a resit.
Introduction
The certificate test has two parts: a theory test and a practical test. The two parts are independent of each other. Both must be passed, in any order, within 6 months before the certificate can be issued. If you fail one part, you still have the right to take the other. The rules are in TUR's test guidelines for pallet stackers and forklift trucks, which apply from 1 September 2022.
The theory test
The theory test is taken electronically in TUR's Multitest. Only tests made by TUR and approved by the Danish Working Environment Authority may be used. You may bring a calculator, pencil and paper, but no notes.
| The theory test | A (pallet stacker) | B (forklift truck) |
|---|---|---|
| Number of questions | 15 | 20 |
| Time | 30 minutes | 45 minutes |
| Maximum number of errors in total | 3 | 4 |
| Of which at most in load chart questions | 1 | 1 |
The practical exam
The practical test lasts 45 minutes for certificate A (15 minutes per task) and 60 minutes for certificate B (20 minutes per task). The tasks are drawn by lot. For B you must at least drive a pallet stacker, an electric forklift (or a reach truck) and a gas or diesel forklift. Typical tasks are:
- 01Handling goods: picking up and setting down different goods at different heights — up to at least 3,000 mm — in different rack types, and stacking goods.
- 02Loading and unloading in a container and on a truck bed.
- 03Manoeuvring in confined spaces and narrow aisles, economy turning, ramps and yards.
