Evacuation plan and fire instructions for the front desk
How to react when the fire alarm sounds
This instruction is a template for how reception should respond when the fire alarm goes off. Adapt it to your specific building escape routes and meeting point and go through it when training new colleagues.
§As soon as the alarm sounds
- 01Keep calm — guests read your body language
- 02Alert alarms/contact the fire department (112) if it does not happen automatically
- 03Take the updated guest list from the booking system with you, or make sure it is accessible
§Evacuation of common areas
- 01Guide guests in reception and common areas towards the nearest marked emergency exit
- 02Do not use elevators
- 03Check toilets and small rooms on the way if safe
- 04Go to my homework
§At the meeting place
- 01Meet the fire service and inform them how many guests were checked in according to the system
- 02Report back to the fire service if anyone is missing or has been injured
- 03Keep guests together and informed until they are dismissed
